You may have seen professional photographers walking around with their big camera lenses and equipment, trying to shoot things, like for example animals, that are very far away. Other try to shoot some that are very close but want to get all the details of it into a picture. This equipment is usually very expensive and can be annoying to carry around. And here is where we want to show you how your phone can do much more than you think, with some little adjustments and tools. We will show you how to shoot macro photography on your iPhone, and what you need for it.
For newer iPhones
For starting to shoot macro photography there are two ways of doing it. The first one really depends on the iPhone you have. If you own one of the latest iPhones, the macro-option is already set into your camera, and it is much easier to reach good results. For this, the only thing you need to do is get close to the object. Try to avoid zoom as much as possible, as it lowers the quality of the image and starts adding grain to it.
But talking about quality, you will be able to improve quality by pressing a simple button. On the top left corner of you screen, while in the camera app, you will be able to turn on Raw mode. This will provide even more detail to your photos and greatly improve quality. The only thing about this one, is that you need to edit it afterwards in order to see the picture and use it as a file to send to others or post. This you can easily do on either Snapseed or Lightroom.
For older iPhones
Now shooting macro on older iPhones is not impossible, and some of the methods mentioned above might work. But to have a much greater experience we recommend getting an iPhone lens that is made for macro photography and allows you to shoot in the same quality as newer iPhones. Here we recommend the Xenovo Pro Lens Kit for iPhone, which comes at a very good price and will offer you amazing quality and detail in your shots. Once you set the lens, you are ready to start shooting. While on some phones the Raw mode is not available, we highly recommend some editing after. A few lightning adjustments in Snapseed or Lightroom should do the trick, so your photos are ready to post.
